Santillana del Mar

Santillana del Mar is also known as the “Town of three lies” because it is not saintly (Santi in Spanish), nor flat (llana), nor is it sea-side (del Mar).

A must for tourists to Cantabria to see either the Altamira Caves or the impressive historical-artistic site where we find numerous historical buildings of great value such as the Santa Juliana Collegiate Church from the 17th century, one of the best-preserved examples of Romanesque art. It is also an experience to walk along Santillana’s medieval cobbled streets, where we are transported back to faraway times. There is also a zoo nearby where children will enjoy themselves.
