Suances

Formerly known as Portus Blendium in Roman times, final destination of the Roman road that joined the plains with the Northern coast, this quiet seaside town located at the natural outlet of the confluence of the Rivers Saja and Besaya was used as a natural pier and starting-out port for the minerals extracted from the old Reocín mines.

Today Suances is one of the main tourist attractions of the Cantabrian coast, thanks to its proximity to the Santillana historical site and thanks to its magnificent beaches, as proven by the inhabitants of the neighbouring regions who every summer choose them as their favourite, given the easy access and beautiful views, as well as their good ambience and a wide variety of gastronomic options.
